Dropbox Changes
Each Dropbox account is limited to 100 GB per user. This applies to all Dropbox accounts, whether for an individual or a team.

No. Dropbox is not going away, but available storage is being limited.
IIT has implemented soft quotas which will allow a user to continue using Dropbox if they temporarily exceed their quota. You may receive warning emails from Dropbox if you get close to or exceed your quota.
- IIT will not delete any active user’s data unless there is a written request from the data owner via a IIT Service Desk (ServiceNow) ticket.
- Users that are no longer employed by GSU will have their account and data deleted as part of the normal account cleanup process.
When an individual leaves the university, the standard process is for their university account to be disabled and the data in their Dropbox and other accounts to be deleted. Data deleted from Dropbox is recoverable for 30 days after the standard account removal/disable process.
The Dropbox interface does not accurately reflect how much storage is available to the university under our contract, and does not provide an automated mechanism for preventing overall usage from growing beyond contracted limits. However, growing storage beyond the limit that is contracted could incur additional costs for which there is not allocated/available budget.
No. Purchasing and using a individual Dropbox subscription for work-related information is not recommended and may not meet the same standards as the university's account for protecting information.
Additionally, currently it is not possible to create a Dropbox account using a @gsu.edu address in the university's faculty/staff email domain.

OneDrive Changes
Faculty and staff OneDrive accounts have changed to a limit of 100 GB per account.
Student OneDrive accounts maintain a 1TB limit at this time.
Microsoft Teams storage is not affected by limit changes and maintains 25 TB per site.
Data in your university email account or other areas of Microsoft 365 does not count toward the 100 GB faculty/staff account limit. The 100 GB faculty/staff OneDrive limit is calculated only based on what is the OneDrive area of the account.

As you approach the 100 GB limit for faculty/staff OneDrive accounts, you may receive an email asking you to reduce the data stored in your OneDrive account.
Once you exceed the 100 GB limit for faculty/staff in OneDrive, you will not be able to save any additional files to your OneDrive account until file storage is reduced to under the limit.

Files Related to Group Projects and Team Work: Files that are not associated with an individual, but that instead relate to group projects or team work can be moved to Microsoft Teams. Each Microsoft Team has a storage limit of 25GB.
Files Related to an Individual: If the data in your account relates to your work as an individual, consider whether the size of the data stored in your account can be reduced.
