WordPress Writing Digital Badge

This badge is for those expected to write and edit written content for a site using the WordPress content management system. After obtaining your badge you can add it onto your social media profile, resume, or other job sites.

Assessment Topics:

To obtain this badge, recipients must demonstrate knowledge of the WordPress platform’s features and topics that are outlined below by completing a 90 minute in person, proctored assessment. If you feel comfortable with the topics described below, you should be ready to sign-up for the assessment session.

Special Note: This assessment and badge is for those using WordPress 4 and the classic editor and not WordPress 5 and the block editor.
Topic 1: Creating and editing a post or a page

Distinguishing between a post and a page when creating content.
Sending posts and pages to the trash and deleting them permanently.
Differing between drafts and published posts/pages in the post/page list.
Previewing posts/pages.
Saving posts/pages as drafts.
Publishing posts/pages.

Topic 2: Writing and editing text

Using heading and paragraph text.
Creating ordered (numbered) and unordered (bulleted) lists.
Inserting hyperlinks using link text.

Topic 3: Inserting media (images, audio, and video) into a page or post

Uploading images, audio, and video.
Adding images with alt text and captions.
Creating image galleries.
Embedding video and audio from a media streaming site.
Designating a feature image in a post.

Topic 4: Distinguishing differences between tags and categories

Adding and removing tags and categories.
Editing tag lists.
Editing category lists.

Topic 5: Adding users to a WordPress site

Distinguishing between the roles – Administrator, Editor, Author, Contributor, Subscriber.
