Associated Service iTunes U at Georgia State

Georgia State University hosts a multimedia library called iTunes U. Follow these steps to create a video podcast that can be hosted in iTunes U.

Plan Your Podcast

  1. Decide what type of podcast you want to create:
    1. Audio (just sound; no images or video)
    2. Audio with Images (like a PowerPoint slideshow, with a audio)
    3. Video (video, usually has some audio)
  2. Storyboard your Podcast
    1. decide what your podcast will contain (sample storyboard)
    2. what to do included in each image or video piece (storyboarding software)
  3. Obtain Participant Release and Fair Use forms (*This is required!)
    1. Video Participant Release
      Get permission to use the likeness of those you plan to feature and interview in your podcast.
    2. Fair Use Checklist
      Understand when you can reuse materials under educational fair use
  4. Plan to get podcasting training or borrow equipment if needed.
    1. Digital Aquarium

Create Your Podcast

  1. Choose software to create your podcast. The software listed below is either free to download or likely to have come with your computer system. Additional options can be found in the Digital Aquarium.

    Upload Your Podcast to iTunes U

    Complete instructions are available in the Guide to iTunes U for Students.

    1. Login to your iTunes U account
    2. Select your course
    3. Select Upload and Manage Files
    4. Choose Add New Files
    5. Select the file you want to upload
    6. After your file have been uploaded select Done

    Students – Make sure the podcast is correctly labeled. Once it is uploaded you will be unable to change the name and artist information.
