Installing the VPN with AnyConnect on Windows

Overview

This document describes the steps to access Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client with Windows.

Requirements

  • Windows 7, 8.1, or 10
  • Uninstall any previous version of GSU’s Cisco VPN client
  • Your CampusID and CampusID password
    NOTE: If you have forgotten your CampusID password, visit campusID.gsu.edu.

Install Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client with Windows

  1. Open your browser and go to GSU’s Download Center.
  2. Log in using your CampusID and password.
  3. Select the Faculty/Staff tab. Select Cisco. Select Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client.

  4. Click Add to Cart.

  5. Click Check Out.

  6. Enter your Campus email address and CampusID Password in the boxes provided, then click I Accept.
    NOTE: If you have forgotten your CampusID password, visit http://campusid.gsu.edu

  7. Click Proceed with Order.

  8. Click DOWNLOAD LINK.

  9. Click DOWNLOAD on the following page.

  10. After opening the downloaded content, click Next.

  11. Click the I accept the terms in the License Agreement option, then click Next.

  14. Installing the Cisco Client via SCCM (for IT Technician Use)

    1. Log in to SCCM. If you do not have access to SCCM, please contact the Technology Service Desk at help@gsu.edu, or 404-413-HELP (4357).
    2. Click Available Software, find and select Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client, then click Install.

    Connecting and Disconnecting

    1. To open the program, click the Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client icon on your Start menu, under All Programs. The AnyConnect client will also load in your Task Bar, and can be right-clicked from there to either disconnect or connect.
    2. In the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client box, enter secureaccess.gsu.edu in the field, then click Connect.

    3. Select your location from the Group drop down, then enter your CampusID and Password in the Username and Password fields.

    4. To Disconnect, click the arrow icon at the corner of your Task Bar and select Disconnect.

    Uninstalling

    1. If you need to uninstall the program, go to your Control Panel, then click on Add or Remove a Program.
    2. Find and select the Cisco Client, then click Uninstall.

    3. If prompted, by a dialogue box, click OK.
