This document details how to create and use Office 365 Groups for Campus Accounts.

Creating Office 365 Groups

  1. Log in to your Faculty or Staff campus email with your CampusID and CampusID Password.
  2. Within the email inbox, click microsoft_groups_1a next to Groups.

  4. Click Next under Standard Group.

  6. Fill in the boxes, and then click Create at the top to create the group.

  8. Enter in the Name or Email of the coworkers you want to add and select them in the drop-down menu. When you finish adding coworkers, click Add on the left-hand side of the window.
    If you wish to add group members later, click Not Now.

  10. To add more members in the future, click microsoft_groups_5a on the right-hand side of the screen, and then click Invite Others in the drop-down menu.

  12. To access groups later, click the down-arrow next to groups.

Using Office 365 Groups

Inside of your groups, click the corresponding tabs at the top of the screen to access each section:

  1. Conversations Tab
  2. Start and track conversations with your group members. Conversations created are emailed to all group members, and files shared are compiled in the “Files” tab.

  3. Calendar Tab
  4. Create events to keep you and your group members up-to-date and on schedule.

  5. Files Tab
  6. Images and documents that are attached in conversations are compiled into this Tab. You can also directly upload and create files by clicking New and Upload.

  7. Notebook Tabs
  8. Take notes by typing, drawing, or recording audio that your group members can see and add information at a later date through the OneNote app.

  9. Connector Apps
  10. You can add third-party apps such as Twitter to communicate information to various audiences or apps such as Wunderlist to track progress on collaborative projects.

  11. More Tab (Planner and Site)
  12. Keep your team updated with news posts, status updates

    Planner
    Create and assign tasks to different members and keep track of their assignments with charts. Use the boards tab to create and assign tasks to group members.

    Use the charts tab to track the progress of your group members.

    Site

    The site tab allows you to create lists, pages, and install apps to access information for daily use.

    You can also stay up-to-date with additions and changes to the group in the Activity section.

Office 365 Groups for Outlook 2016

Creating Office 365 Groups

  1. In Outlook 2016, click the Home Tab and click New Groupmicrosoft_groups_o16_1
  2. In the window:
    1. Choose a name.
    2. Make your group either public or private.
    3. Click the box if you want the members to receive group conversations in his or her inbox.
    4. Click OK.

  3. Enter in the Name or Email of the coworkers you want to add and select them in the drop-down menu. When you finish adding coworkers, click OK. If you want to add group members later, click OK.microsoft_groups_o16_3

Using Office 365 Groups

  1. Start and track conversations with your group members. Files shared inside of conversations are compiled in the “Files” tab in Office 365.
  2. You can create lists, and pages in the team site to give your group members easy access to information.
  3. Images and documents that are attached in conversations can be found here.
  4. Connect your group to apps such as Mailchimp and Asana to help support your project
