Install SPSS on Windows


This document lists the steps to install SPSS 25, 24, & 23 on a Windows computer.


    • GSU’s server address (provided)

Installing SPSS

NOTE: You will need to restart your machine to complete the installation. Please save and close any unnecessary programs now
NOTE: If you are trying to download and install SPSS from off campus, you must first connect to Georgia State’s Virtual Private Network
      1. Find and click on the SPSS file you downloaded from our download site.
      2. Click Run in the Open File – Security Warning window.
      3. The SPSS instal wizard may take a moment to load. Click Next when the window appears.
      4. In the Welcome to the InstallShield Wizard window, select Concurrent user license and click Next.
      5. Read and accept the terms of agreement, and then click Next.
      6. In the License Manager window:
        1. Enter the server address SPSS.LICENSE.GSU.EDU into the server field
        2. Click Set
        3. Click Next
      7. Select another language if you require one besides English, and then click Next.
      8. Select whether you need JAWS screen reading (most will select no) and click Next.
      9. Select whether you need Essentials for Python (most will select yes) and click Next.
      10. Read and accept the second terms of agreement and click Next.
      11. Click Next in the Destination Folder window.
      12. Click Install.

        NOTE: The installation process may take a few minutes. If you see a black window appear after a few moments, do not be alarmed – this is a normal part of the installation process.

      13. When the installation process is complete, click OK or Finish.
      14. Click Yes in the window asking you to restart your machine.
