Report Fraudulent Email That Claims to Be from the University or Email System Misuse

Overview

You can report an email to the IIT Technology Service Desk that may fraudulently claim to be from the university, or email from a member of the university community that violates acceptable system use policies.

Content

Report Suspicious Email

Online Email

  1. Sign in to your Campus Email Account.
  2. Click New Email in the top left corner.

  3. If the email did not open up in a new window, click the window pop out icon in the right corner of the new email reading pane.

  4. Click and drag the suspicious email into the body of your new email to include it as an attachment.

  5. In your new email:
    1. Enter help@gsu.edu in the To: field
    2. Enter Suspicious Email Attached for the Subject of the email
    3. Make sure the body of the email is blank

  6. When finished, click Send to report the email to the IIT Technology Service Desk.


Windows

  1. Open your Outlook Client.
  2. Click New Email in the top left corner.

  3. Click and drag the suspicious email into the body of your new email to include it as an attachment.

  4. In your new email:
    1. Enter help@gsu.edu in the To: field
    2. Enter Suspicious Email Attached for the Subject of the email
    3. Make sure the body of the email is blank

  5. When finished, click Send to report the email to the IIT Technology Service Desk.


Mac

  1. Open your Outlook Client.
