How to take a quiz with LockDown Browser and Respondus Monitor

Overview

This document details the steps on how to take a quiz that requires LockDown Browser and Respondus Monitor.

Requirement

  • A Functioning Webcam Camera and Microphone.
  • LockDown Browser already installed in your computer
    If you do not have LockDown Browser, you can download and install it for free: Windows | Mac

How to take a quiz with LockDown Browser and Respondus Monitor

NOTE: It is suggested that you close all programs prior to taking a test on LockDown Browser for the application to work properly.
  1. Open LockDown Browser.
    NOTE: If prompted, either close a blocked program (e.g. instant messaging) by clicking Yes or close LockDown Browser and close the blocked program manually
  2. You will be automatically taken to the iCollege Page. Sign in with your CampusID and CampusID password.
  3. On your iCollege home page:
    1. Click Select Course
    2. Select the course in which you need to take a quiz

  4. Under the Assessments dropdown, select Quizzes.

  5. Click the quiz you are suppose to take and then click start quiz.

  6. Click Agree in the Terms of Use window.
  7. Check the Allow and Remember box to allow your webcam and microphone to work with Respondus Monitor.

  8. Your instructor may required a Startup Sequence to follow before taking the quiz:
    1. Student photo and ID: show your student ID to the webcam and take a picture
    2. Environment Check: Turn your computer with your webcam to capture your surroundings
    3. Additional Instructions: Your instructor may include additional instructions before taking the quiz
    NOTE: You have to finish all of the startup sequence before you begin the quiz. You will be recorded for the duration of the startup sequence and your quiz, and your teacher will have the permission to review the video for grading purposes
