Access a Home Drive on a Mac

Overview

This document details how to connect to your Home network drives on a Mac. The following steps are the same whether you are connecting on campus or off campus, however, if you are connecting to your drives from off campus, you will need to use Georgia State’s Virtual Private Network (VPN).

Accessing Your Drives

NOTE: IF you are trying to connect to your drives from off-campus, you will first need to connect using Georgia State’s Virtual Private Network (VPN)
  1. Open Finder.

  2. Click Go and select Connect to Server.
    Tip: You can also press Command + K

  3. In the server address field, enter smb://vstore-home.dmd.gsuad.gsu.edu/home-01/ first character of your CampusID / your CampusID (e.g. “smb://vstore-home.dmd.gsuad.gsu.edu/home-01/j/jsmith1”), then click Connect.
    Tip: click the + icon to make this path a Favorite

    NOTE: If you are trying to connect to a different drive other than your Home drive, the server address will vary. Please contact your network administrator if you do not know the address to your desired drive
  4. You will then be prompted for your username and password. Enter gsuad\CampusID and your CampusID password, then click Connect.

  5. If you’d like, you can drag a folder from your drive into the left-bar menu to save it as a future shortcut.
