Windows 64-bit: Installing the Client that Supports Custom Secure Server Profiles
Overview
This document lists the steps to create a VPN connection in Windows 64-bit. Note that Windows XP 64-bit is not supported by CISCO. CISCO only supports the 64-bit client on Vista and Windows 7.
Requirements
- Windows 64 bit
- Your CampusID and Password.
NOTE: If you have forgotten your CampusID or password, use the CampusID self-help system. If you still cannot resolve your issue, contact the IS& T Help Center via e-mail or phone (404-413-4357).

Steps to Uninstall Any Previous CISCO VPN Client
- Click the Windows Start button.
- Click “All Programs.”
- Click “CISCO Systems VPN Client.”
- Click “Uninstall VPN Client.”
- Click “Yes” in the uninstall confirmation window.
- Click “No” when asked to delete existing connection profiles.
- Click “No” when asked to erase existing CISCO certificates.
- Click “Yes” to Reboot.
Steps to Install CISCO VPN Client
NOTE: Before starting the install, save your work and close any open applications. Your system will automatically reboot after installation.
- Download the VPN client for Windows 64-bit at: https://download2.gsu.edu/vpn/win64/cvpn64.exe.
- In the Login window:
- Enter your CampusID
- Enter your CampusID password.
- Click “OK”
- Click “Save” in the File Download – Security Warning dialog box.
- Save to your Desktop.
- Click “Close” in the Download Complete dialog box.
- Close the window.
- Double click the VPNinstl icon on your Desktop.
- Click “OK” in the Winzip Self Extractor window.NOTE: Your system will automatically reboot. Log back into your system and continue to the Connecting steps.
Steps to Connect to CISCO VPN
- Click the Windows Start button and select “All Programs.”
- Select “CISCO Systems VPN Client” and click “VPN client.”
- Double-click the applicable profile under the Connection Entries.
- In the Login window:
- Enter your CampusID.
- Enter your password.
- Click “OK.”
- You are now connected to CISCO VPN.
Steps to Disconnect from CISCO VPN
- Click the “Lock” icon in your Task bar.
- Click “Disconnect.”
- Close the window.
