Windows 64-bit: Installing the Client that Supports Custom Secure Server Profiles

Overview

This document lists the steps to create a VPN connection in Windows 64-bit. Note that Windows XP 64-bit is not supported by CISCO. CISCO only supports the 64-bit client on Vista and Windows 7.

Requirements

  • Windows 64 bit
  • Your CampusID and Password.

NOTE: If you have forgotten your CampusID or password, use the CampusID self-help system. If you still cannot resolve your issue, contact the IS& T Help Center via e-mail or phone (404-413-4357).

Steps to Uninstall Any Previous CISCO VPN Client

  1. Click the Windows Start button.
  2. Click “All Programs.”
  3. Click “CISCO Systems VPN Client.”
  4. Click “Uninstall VPN Client.”
  5. Click “Yes” in the uninstall confirmation window.
  6. Click “No” when asked to delete existing connection profiles.
  7. Click “No” when asked to erase existing CISCO certificates.
  8. Click “Yes” to Reboot.

Steps to Install CISCO VPN Client

NOTE: Before starting the install, save your work and close any open applications. Your system will automatically reboot after installation.

  1. Download the VPN client for Windows 64-bit at: https://download2.gsu.edu/vpn/win64/cvpn64.exe.
  2. In the Login window:
    1. Enter your CampusID
    2. Enter your CampusID password.
    3. Click “OK”
  3. Click “Save” in the File Download – Security Warning dialog box.
  4. Save to your Desktop.
  5. Click “Close” in the Download Complete dialog box.
  6. Close the window.
  7. Double click the VPNinstl icon on your Desktop.
  8. Click “OK” in the Winzip Self Extractor window.NOTE: Your system will automatically reboot. Log back into your system and continue to the Connecting steps.

Steps to Connect to CISCO VPN

  1. Click the Windows Start button and select “All Programs.”
  2. Select “CISCO Systems VPN Client” and click “VPN client.”
  3. Double-click the applicable profile under the Connection Entries.
  4. In the Login window:
    1. Enter your CampusID.
    2. Enter your password.
    3. Click “OK.”
  5. You are now connected to CISCO VPN.

Steps to Disconnect from CISCO VPN

  1. Click the “Lock” icon in your Task bar.
  2. Click “Disconnect.”
  3. Close the window.
