This document gives you the steps on how to create a news or announcement in Desire2Learn.

Creating News and Announcement


Creating News/Announcement

  1. Click Communication and then Click News.

  2. Click New Item.

  3. On the Create New Headline/Announcement Window:
    1. Enter the title for the News or Announcement.
    2. Enter the News/Announcement’s Content

    3. Check the box for Always show start date if you would like the start date to remain visible to students after the announcement has been posted
    4. Set the Start Date and End Date for the News/Announcement to select when the announcement will be come visible, and how long it will remain visible
    5. Add Attachment, such as a document, picture, or video, if desired
    6. Click Publish

Additional News/Announcement Options

Reorder News Items

  1. Click Communication and then click News.

  2. Click More Actions and then Click Reorder.

  3. Change the Order Number, and then click Save.

RSS Subscriptions

  1. Click Communication and then click News.

  2. Click More Actions and then click RSS.

  3. Click Subscribe Now.

Notification Settings

  1. Click Communication and then click News.

  2. Click More Actions and then Notifications.

  3. Under Contact Methods:
    1. Click Enable Email Notifications to receive notifications via email
    2. Click Register your Mobile to receive notifications in mobile phone

  4. Under Instant Notifications, customize what kind of updates get sent and how they are sent, as well as your other notification settings. Then click Save.
