This document gives you the steps on how to use HTML Text Editor – Design and Advanced View to edit your course content in iCollege without needing any prior knowledge of HTML.

HTML Text Editor – Design and Advanced View


Changing Normal Text to Headings

  1. Highlight the Normal Text and then choose Heading on the paragraph drop-down menu.

    NOTE: To use the HTML Advanced View to edit the HTML code, click the html-icon

Inserting an Image File

  1. Put the cursor to where you want your image to be and click html_image1 to insert an image.
  2. There are three ways how you can insert Image File in iCollege: from your computer, from the existing files in iCollege, or using external resource.
    • Inserting an Image File from Your Computer
      1. Click Upload.
      2. Click Add

    • Inserting an Image File from the existing files in iCollege
      1. Click Course Offering Files.
      2. Choose a file you wish to insert into your post.
      3. Click Add

    • Inserting an Image File from outside resource
      1. Click URL.
      2. Enter the URL of the image you wish to insert into your post.
      3. Click Add

  3. Enter a description of your image in the Alternative Text box or click This image is decorative checkbox if the image does not contain important information.
  4. Click OK.

NOTE: If the image is too big or small, click on the image, and you will see “handles” that you can drag to resize the image. This handles look like little squares around the image.

Uploading Video/Audio Files

  1. Click insert-video-icon to Insert Video or Audio File
  2. Click My Computer if not automatically selected, then click Choose file.

  3. After choosing your Video, click Upload.

    NOTE: To use the HTML Advanced View to edit the HTML code, click the html-icon


Uploading Video/Audio Files from the existing files in iCollege

  1. Click insert-video-icon to Insert Video or Audio Files.
  2. Click Course Offering Files and choose your desired video file.

  3. Click Next.

  4. On the Course Offering Files page:
    1. Enter the Link Title in the Link Text field and enter an Alternate Title in the Alternate Text field
    2. Adjust the Video Aspect Ratio
    3. Click Refresh Preview to preview the video file
    4. Click Insert

      NOTE: To use the HTML Advanced View or Coding Skill, click the html-icon and type in the HTML Code

Embedding Video from outside resource


Embed Video by Searching for Video

  1. Click insert-video-icon to Insert Video or Audio Files.
  2. Click YouTube and enter the Title/Keyword of the Video.  Then click Search.

  3. Select the Video you want to Embed into your course.

  4. Click Next.

  5. Click Insert.

Embed Video by Entering Embed Code

  1. Go to YouTube
  2. On YouTube:
    1. Search for the Video to be Embedded
    2. Click Share
    3.   Click Embed

    4. Highlight the embed code and copy it by right clicking the code and selecting Copy.
      NOTE: You can also press Control + C on a Windows computer, or Command + C on a Mac to copy text

  3. Go back to the iCollege Editor page.
  4. Click insert-video-icon.
  5. Click Enter Embed Code and paste the copied embed code to the Embed Code field.

  7. Click Refresh Preview and then click Insert.
