Managing Your Settings

  1. Under the Communication tab, click Discussions.

  3. Click Settings.

  5. In Settings, you can change the following:
    1. Users can rate posts – Allows other students to rate posts on a five-point scale.
    2. Show the Discussion Topics List – Shows a sidebar on the left of the screen with access to all forums and topics.
    3. Display deleted posts – Shows posts that were deleted
    4. Default View:
      • Grid View – the former default view
      • Reading View – the new style
    5. Include Original Post in Reply – For longer posts, this can make copying and pasting text from the original post easier, but if text is just left there without direct comment, it can waste space
    6. Topic descriptions display in the Message List – For Grid View, this allows descriptions to be displayed along with topic titles
    7. Default Threading Style:
      • Threaded – responses will show just below items they respond to
      • Unthreaded – all posts display in chronological order
    8. Show the Preview Pane – Provides a lower preview pane in Grid View
    9. Show the Search Bar – Displays a search bar in Grid View
    10. Post ID – Displays the unique number value for each post
    11. Org. Defined ID – Displays the unique number value assigned for each author
    12. Limit the number of characters of the subject to display in the post – Allows you to limit the amount of text that students can post
    13. When finished, click Save

Managing Your Statistics

  1. Under the Communication tab, click Discussions.

  3. Click Statistics.

  5. To view more detailed information for each student, click their name.

  7. After reviewing, click Close.

  9. To view more detailed information for each forum and topic, click Forums and Topics.

  11. To view more detailed information for each topic, click its name.

Restoring a Discussion

  1. Under the Communication tab, click Discussions.

  3. Under More Actions, click Restore.

  5. Beside the Discussion you would like to restore, click Restore.
